Alpine builds a compact, focused electric range, and the A290 hot hatch and A390 SUV sit at opposite ends of it. Both use a Type 2 inlet, so a single Voldt® cable covers either car, and they differ only in onboard AC capacity. The A290 charges at up to 11 kW on AC, while the larger A390 accepts a full 22 kW. Choosing a cable that matches the car's onboard charger lets each Alpine reach its rated AC speed, at home and at public points.
The Alpine A290 is a fully electric hatchback with an 11 kW three-phase onboard charger. A Voldt® 11 kW three-phase cable matches that capacity at any compatible wall box or public charge point, and a 22 kW cable keeps the setup ready for a faster supply later without any day-to-day trade-off.
The Alpine A390 goes further, accepting up to 22 kW on AC. A Voldt® 22 kW three-phase cable lets it charge at its full onboard rate wherever a 22 kW supply is available. Both models use a Type 2 inlet, so any Voldt® Type 2 charging cable connects without an adapter.
The distance between your charge point and the car's inlet varies more than most people expect, and it changes depending on which direction you pull in, which side of the car the inlet is on, and whether the cable needs to clear a kerb or run along a wall. A 4 m cable works in a contained garage setup where the wall box is installed directly beside the parking space. For standard driveways and carports, 6 m or 8 m covers both inlet positions without pulling taut or leaving large coils on the ground.
At public charge points, the situation is less predictable. Bays fill up, angles vary, and the post is not always where you expect it. An 8 m cable handles most of these scenarios comfortably. If you regularly charge at workplaces or destination chargers with longer cable runs, or share a home charge point between two vehicles, 10 m or 15 m removes the variables entirely.
| Cable length | Best suited for |
|---|---|
| 4 m | Compact garage with wall box directly beside the parking spot |
| 6 m | Standard driveway or carport, inlet on either side of the vehicle |
| 8 m | Flexible home and public charging, covers most charge point layouts |
| 10 m | Larger vehicles, shared parking, or charge points set further from the bay |
| 15 m | Remote charge points, multi-vehicle setups, or commercial locations |
A Voldt® portable EV charger plugs into a standard Schuko socket for 3.7 kW or a CEE industrial outlet for up to 22 kW three-phase, with no wall box installation required. Rated IP67, it handles outdoor use in all conditions. For an A290 or A390 driver it works as a reliable backup on longer trips, and as a primary option where a fixed wall box is not practical.
Voldt® cables carry CE, UKCA and TÜV certification, are rated IP67, and come with a 3-year warranty as standard. Free shipping and a 100-day hassle-free return policy apply to every order. Stock is held in-market across the UK and Europe, so whichever Alpine you drive and whichever length you need, delivery is fast and reliable.
