Aiway EV Background
As we all know, household car companies have not started the electric car revolution, which proved relatively slow to adapt and accept new trends. Small companies and startups started the EV market with good ideas and the courage to take it to the next level. This also means that now, when the EV gained much traction and market share, a lot of new companies are emerging and looking for their share of the business. The Aiway is just that kind of EV company. Established in 2017 in Shanghai, it is a small brand with big ambitions and models that justify that claim. The Aiways recently entered the European market and it worth considering if you are dedicated EV fan due to interesting design, affordable price and good features. We at Voldt have developed charging cable solutions for this perspective brand.
Aiway EV Models
After the introduction of a couple of remarkable concept cars, Aiways has transitioned to the production of their first road-going models. The company's range currently includes the Aiway U5, a modern-looking crossover SUV with ample space and intriguing features, and the U6, a sporty crossover with a dynamic appearance and a lower roofline. The U5 is designed for family buyers who require a modern electric SUV with a sufficient range, while the U6 is more suited for those who desire a sporty appearance and the latest tech. Some have noted that the U6 bears a resemblance to the Polestar 2, and there are indeed some similarities. The company has announced further expansion of the range, and we are prepared with our premium charging cable solutions for any new models from this innovative brand.
Aiway EV Technology
Both vehicles are built on the same platform but with different body styles, interiors, and features. They also share the same mechanical layout, which consists of a single electric motor powering the front wheels, which are connected to a 63 kWh battery pack. The power output is also the same, and Aiway U5 and U6 both deliver 201 hp, which is enough for decent performance and claimed range of up to 310 km. The lithium-ion battery has 400 v architecture and can withstand AC and DC charging. When charged in AC mode, the Aiway U5 and U6 can top 100% of battery capacity in about 11 hours at a 6.6 kW rate. Those two models can top 80% battery capacity in 34 minutes at 92 kW max when connected to rapid chargers. At Voldt, we offer Aiway charging cable solutions for standardized household power outlets. Shuko and Commando sockets are available.
